West Virginia’s two largest universities are teaming up to help communities land funding for water and wastewater infrastructure. Marshall University and West Virginia University announced new Grant Resource Centers that will offer free grant writing support, funding source mapping, training sessions, and help developing competitive applications. A dedicated grant writer will be hired to support the effort.
The centers are designed to help small towns and rural systems compete for a $145 million state investment in water infrastructure, plus an estimated $450 million in federal and private funding. For watershed groups that partner with municipalities or public service districts on infrastructure needs, this is a resource worth passing along.
