Volunteers Needed – Salt Watch Sampling Day

Hi all,
Three Rivers Waterkeeper, in partnership with Girls Running Shit, is hosting a Volunteer Salt Watch Sampling Day on Saturday, March 8th! Volunteer with us to help collect water samples in local tributaries and waterways around Pittsburgh to measure the chloride levels. This sampling effort, known as Salt Watch, is an initiative from the Izaak Walton League of America to monitor how road salt pollution impacts local waterways.
There’s still 5 slots left to sign up and sample a location from our list (you can sign up for your preferred location or suggest one to us that’s not on the list!) on Saturday, March 8th. We will have two test kit pick-up locations, the Hazelwood Library and the Millvale Library. You can select which location works best for you when you register. Pick-up will occur between 1 – 2 PM and will include a short lesson on how to collect the water sample, no experience is needed!
Following the sampling, volunteers are invited to join us for a Happy Hour at Jackworth Ginger Beer where volunteers can hang out and get a free drink, on us!
Only one person is able to register per sampling site, but if you are sampling with friends you’re welcome to go to each site together! The only exception to this is that youth under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Thank you all!
