Ohio River colleagues-
I wanted to alert you to an opportunity to sign on to a letter helping advance policies dealing with flooding. Note the deadline is end of day today. The National Wildlife Federation has been working with a coalition of groups in central Appalachia on flood resilience policies for the region. The group has pulled together priorities for the FY26 federal budget into this letter, which is open for sign-ons. The letter focuses on the need for critical investments in flood recovery and resilience at FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), USGS (United States Geological Survey), OSMRE (Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement), and USDA (US Department of Agriculture). The sign on deadline is Tuesday, April 22, today, at 5 pm ET, with the goal of sending in by Thursday, April 24th. If you would like to sign on, but can’t make this deadline or have questions about the priorities contained in letter, get in touch with Jessica at arriensj@nwf.org. The letter + current sign-ons is here.
