Grant Assistance for EJ Communities in the Appalachians

EPA staff is letting folks know that Appalachian communities are not applying for Environmental Justice Thriving Communities grants at the same rate as other regions.  After the flooding of Helene it is time to change that.

Coincidentally, the Congressional Budget Office released a report earlier this week that found that the average flood control project would reduce long term costs by $2-$3 for every $1 spent — and in some cases, as much as $6.

This underscores the point that investments made in flood adaptation projects now are likely to benefit strong and resilient communities in the future.

Lets get to work.

Reimagine Appalachia is providing a primer on the Environmental Justice and Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program as part of its Grant of the Month Club workshop series.   October 3rd at 11 AM ET via Zoom.
