Each year, millions participate in outdoor recreation activities in Pennsylvania. These activities affect
Pennsylvania’s economy in an important way, creating jobs and wages, generating tax revenue, and
contributing to the state’s GDP. These economic contributions are the direct result of participants
utilizing natural areas within Pennsylvania for recreation. Therefore, conservation of natural resources
is critical if outdoor recreation is to remain a large part of Pennsylvania’s economy.
