The Pennsylvania Abandoned Mine Reclamation Conference returns October 20 to 22, 2026, at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg (Hershey Area) in Grantville, just off I-81. This year’s theme is “Meeting the Challenge,” and registration is open now for attendees and exhibitors.
Co-hosted every year by the Eastern Pennsylvania Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation (EPCAMR) and the Western Pennsylvania Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation (WPCAMR), the AMR Conference is the main statewide gathering for the people who actually do mine drainage work: watershed groups operating passive treatment systems, conservation district staff, DEP and federal agency personnel, engineers, and researchers. If your group treats or monitors abandoned mine drainage anywhere in the Upper Ohio basin, this is the room where the practical knowledge lives.
The program is shaping up now. The conference committee had approved eight presentations as of late spring and has been accepting additional submissions, and the schedule typically includes field tours of reclamation and treatment sites along with the annual Mayfly Award recognizing outstanding contributions to mine drainage cleanup. Sponsorship opportunities are also open for organizations that want to support the event.
With federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law money still flowing into abandoned mine land reclamation across Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio, this year’s conversations about project pipelines, long term treatment operation and maintenance, and grant strategy will be especially timely for groups trying to position their projects for funding.
