Public Involvement and Our Environmental Health

A coalition of 27 environmental groups used the public comment scoping period to submit a letter of concerns for the Department of Energy (DOE) to investigate as part of the Environmental Impact Statement for the Appalachian Regional “Clean” Energy Hub (ARCH2).

The DOE must now respond to this thorough letter and its well-researched concerns for the ARCH2 project to proceed.  This example of public engagement and involvement is a critical element of stewarding our environment and its natural resources.

A few of the groups that were part of this coalition have scheduled webinars for tomorrow (Wed. Mar. 12) regarding community rights, petitions, real-time water monitoring and engaged participation.  Unfortunately both sessions start at 7 pm.

Tackling The A-Z Impacts of Plastics and Petrochemicals and Halt the Harm Network are hosting Community Democracy in Action for Clean Air, Water, & Livable Spaces, a webinar with Fair Shake Environmental Legal Services and the Buckeye Environmental Network.

The Beaver County Marcellus Awareness Community and the Three Rivers Waterkeeper are hosting Eyes on Water: Pollution, Permits, and the Power of the People.  This webinar will include updates on petitions, permit compliance research and how real-time water monitoring will help protect our rivers.
