Do you know a local water leader who is dedicated to advancing innovative and sustainable water solutions in their community? We are once again excited to announce that nominations are now open for WaterNow’s annual Emerging Leader Awards! Exceptional leaders exist at every level within municipalities and water utilities, and we are excited to lift up their work.
By recognizing today’s rising leaders, we support their growth and celebrate their achievements, supporting the future leadership of the water sector. The Award recognizes municipal and public water utility employees who have demonstrated promise and creativity in advancing meaningful cultural change in the areas of environmental sustainability and community support. Awardees will receive a $1,500 stipend to support their leadership training and professional development, and will have exclusive access to professional development opportunities through WaterNow. The 2026 Emerging Leader Award recipients will be invited to accept their awards at the Awards Ceremony in June 2026, in Washington D.C.
In selecting award winners, WaterNow looks for nominees who have demonstrated leadership skills in sustainable, innovative approaches to engagement with their water systems and their communities. Past winners have led projects ensuring affordable drinking water access for all residents of their service area, championing low-water-use landscapes in their community, and improving outreach and engagement around lead service line replacements.
